The existing Verte website had been built using the Squarespace DIY builder and was therefore quite basic. This setup also meant the site couldn’t be hosted in a green data centre, as Squarespace sites aren’t portable to 3rd party hosting providers and their own hosting infrastructure doesn’t use renewable energy (as of the time of writing).
Working in partnership with sustainability consultancy JustOne, fresh brand guidelines were developed along with their flagship Accelerate Change sustainability strategy, and these assets were handed over to erjjio to shape the creation of the new website.
We created a clean and crisp new look, showcasing their purpose, services and depth of experience in the sector. And by moving the website off the Squarespace platform onto WordPress and our erjjio Green Hosting plan instead, it’s now powered by 100% renewable energy and achieves a website carbon rating of “A”.
The old website was very simple and only featured a single image along with some text on the homepage, so the opportunities to reduce its carbon footprint were lower than we typically tend to encounter. However, despite our revamped version of the homepage being much more informative and rich in content, we still managed to achieve a reduction in its emissions of 31% as a result of our work.
