Core Maintenance

Every day, malicious hackers make hundreds of millions of attempts to break into websites around the world. Out-of-date software is one of the leading causes of successful infections on WordPress websites.

It's therefore extremely important to regularly update your WordPress website's plugins, theme and core software, so that fixes for any new security vulnerabilities are installed as soon as possible.

In order to minimise disruption, it's best that the updates are performed late at night, backups are taken beforehand in case the updates need to be reversed, and an experienced developer is on-hand in case of any anticipated issues that might crop up after the updates (this is fairly common).

The good news is that we can happily take care of all this for you. In addition, we can continuously monitor the website's uptime, security and visual appearance on your behalf, so we quickly discover any unexpected problems and proactively resolve them. You can sit back and relax - you're in safe hands.

Content Management

When we create a new website for you, our philosophy is to empower you to manage the content on the site yourself, by giving you user-friendly tools, training and full admin rights. That way, you won't be trapped into tinkering with code, or needing to hire us (or an alternative partner) every time you want to update something.

However, if you'd prefer to avoid the burden of formatting, publishing and polishing content on the site yourself, we'd be very happy to support you - so you can spend your time on more important things for your business.

With our Content Management care plan, we'll format and publish your content on the website professionally, on your behalf - saving you time, hassle and energy.

Strategy & Development

Over time, you may think of ideas for new features you'd like to add to your website, to support your business as it grows and evolves. Similarly, it's likely that we may come up with ideas and suggestions of our own, reflecting emerging trends, new technologies and feedback from your users.

With our Strategy & Development plan, we'll get together with you on a monthly call to discuss and prioritise new ideas. We'll then work on up to 5 of your highest priority development items each month, so you can continuously enhance your customers' experience when they visit your website.

If you have any larger, more complicated features in mind, we can discuss these together on our monthly call too. We will quote for this work separately, with no-obligation fixed prices based on our estimate of time needed.

  • Billed in advance as a pack of 10 tasks rather than monthly, so you can use them whenever they are needed. Once the pack of 10 tasks has been used, you can purchase another pack.
  • You can assign tasks to us (within your Basecamp project), asking us to publish and update website content on your behalf, to save you time and hassle. For example this could include:
  • Format and publish new blog articles, case studies or similar posts that you have written in Microsoft Word / Google Docs
  • Update and/or correct existing content published on the site
  • Format and publish new client logos and accreditation badges
  • Format and publish new team member images and profiles
  • Optimise your uploaded images, to ensure they look crisp and adhere to sustainable web design principles which minimise website carbon emissions
  • Source high-quality stock photos
  • PLEASE NOTE: The scope of these tasks is limited to those which can be completed using the website's existing structure, functionality and publishing tools - larger changes which require Design or Development work will be quoted separately. Each pack of Content Management tasks must be used within 12 months.

* Pricing is generally applicable for brochure websites only, which we have built for you ourselves. Larger and / or more sophisticated and complex sites such as those containing e-commerce, membership or booking functionality are generally more complicated to maintain and will be quoted separately. Sites we have NOT built for you ourselves may need a billable review so we can check their configuration, quality and stability before taking on the maintenance work. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

** Pricing for this standard plan covers troubleshooting for relatively small and simple issues which may come up from time to time, usually as a result of a software or plugin version update. Major issues (hopefully rare) which need several hours / days of complex troubleshooting and development time may need to be quoted separately.

*** Could you give examples of small-to-medium size development tasks?

Small-to-medium development tasks could include the following, for example:

  • Small tweaks to the design or layout of an existing individual page / post / template
  • Creating duplicates of existing pages / templates etc to be adapted for new purposes
  • Creating and configuring additional forms, including setup of integrations with 3rd party CRMs like Mailchimp
  • Adjustment of responsive behaviour on mobile devices
  • Layout changes for mega menus
  • Creation and configuration of new Call To Action buttons / sections
**** Could you give examples of larger tasks which would be quoted for separately?

Larger design and development tasks could include the following, for example:

  • Creating mockup designs for entirely new pages or post templates
  • Development of bespoke functionality that doesn’t already exist on the website
  • Researching, testing and implementing advanced integrations with 3rd party software 
What if I don't have a WordPress website?

We’re WordPress specialists and our Care Plan services are all dependent on your website running on this platform. We don't currently offer these maintenance services for other types of website. Our green web hosting service is available for any type of website however, not just WordPress - and we'd be delighted to have you on board with us!
